Taste of Shanghai, Castle Hill

I had a long awaited date night with one of my girlfriends the other night. I had stood her up previously so when I saw that an advanced screening of Book Club was on at Event Cinemas I knew she would love it and I knew we could also squeeze in dinner (and maybe a wine) afterwards so win/win!

Firstly – Book Club – if you love a good chick flick and have a friend that you haven’t caught up with in a while, this is for you. It was funny, great to see four amazing actresses on screen together and quite frankly Andy Garcia has improved with age. (Don Johnson is not too bad either just quietly).

After the movie we headed out to The Piazza. After a quick walkaround we decided to check out Taste of Shanghai. I have to say that I am not a huge fan of dumplings (please don’t judge me) so I was a little hesitant about our choice but went in with an open mind.

I love, love, love the atmosphere of this place. It feels like you are literally sitting on the streets of Shanghai. You can also see in to the kitchen and I love this not only because you can see it is clean but I love watching chefs do their thing.

Now the food - the menu is rather big and a little hard to read (might just be my eyesight) but it does have pictures so that always helps. Eventually we chose Shanghai Crispy Spring Rolls, Peking Style Shredded Pork, Stir Fried Green Beans with Pork Mince and of course a glass of Sauv Blanc.

Wow – the food was amazing. If I'm honest (and that would appear the whole point of this ...) it was definitely too much for two people but that didn’t stop us from putting a dent in it. In fact, I couldn’t stop eating because the food was so great.

Not only was the food fresh but it was just so damn tasty. I highly recommend checking out this place when you next head to The Piazza.
