Betty's Burgers, Castle Towers
Who doesn’t love a good burger?
The girls and I have been dying to see Mamma Mia Here We Go Again since the announcement was made that they were making it, so on Friday night, we headed up to Castle Towers to see it. My first thought when we decided to go to the movies was “great I can now go checkout Betty’s Burgers”.
I have eaten burgers in some of the “world’s best” places – Shake Shack, In-N-Out Burger, Smash Burger (my ultimate favourite and if you are ever in the US you should look them up), Mary’s (Newtown and Sydney CBD – another one you should try) and I was very keen to check out our newest local burger place.
I was worried it was going to be so busy that we wouldn’t get in but I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted at the end of the queue by a lovely Betty’s Burgers staff member and she informed us that this was the shortest the queue had been all night and it would be less than 10 minutes before we were seated.
We were given menus to have a look at while we waited. I got a little distracted from the menu as I was taking photos of the pretty cool look of the place, when I got to meet a lovely group of “young kids” (yes I know I sound old) in line (@andrewm_9) and promised them I would tag them. Now they have to live up to their end of the bargain and share @hillsdistrictfood with all their friends! (I am not quite sure where that ball in the pic came from…….)
Ok back to the food - the wait was less than 10 minutes, which worked well because my husband refused to watch Mamma Mia 2 and so went to his own ‘boys’ movie and his finished about 10 minutes after ours. The ordering process was easy and while the final bill was more than I expected (those additional items add up) I was very eager to get seated to try the latest burger to arrive in the Hills.
I ordered the Betty’s Classic, my husband the Betty’s Classic Deluxe, and my two girls Crispy Chicken with cheese and bacon added and the Betty’s Garden Salad with added Crispy Chicken and Bacon. We also ordered two sides of French fries and some onion rings.
As you can see the salad was huge and the burgers looked fantastic.
The Crispy Chicken burger was even too big for my little one to hold and that Betty’s Special Sauce is a definite to try with your fries.
Back to the staff though – I love seeing young people at work in the service industry with a smile on their face and I don’t think there was one person working at Betty’s Burgers on Friday night that didn’t have a smile on their face. I am really bad with names but there was one girl working there that deserves a special mention. I am sure if she is reading this she will know it is meant for her and I am really sorry that I can’t remember your name but I hope one day when my girls are working at a job like this they are as nice as you.
Overall the food was great (I would put the burger up there with some of the best) and the service was fantastic. Next time I am definitely trying one of those deserts!
